…Reaffirms Commitment to Journalists’ Welfare
Members and supporters of the Divine Mandate Movement (DMM) have poured encomiums on the leadership of the Movement for honouring its promise of extending love and support to members during festive seasons, despite recent electoral challenges.
Barely 24 hours to the New Year, the Divine Mandate Movement set a remarkable example for politicians, professional bodies, and socio-cultural groups by distributing hundreds of sizeable bags of rice to its members, supporters, and admirers across Oyo State.
The gesture, carried out in fulfillment of a campaign promise made during the 2025 Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council election, was executed regardless of the unfavorable outcome of the polls.
Speaking at the distribution exercise, the Chairman of the Movement, Comrade Raji Adebayo, emphasized that integrity and credibility are defined by the ability to keep one’s word, irrespective of circumstances.
“A promise must remain a promise, no matter what happens afterward. That is the only way to protect one’s integrity and demonstrate genuine dependability to followers.”
He stressed that the initiative was entirely driven by the collective efforts and sacrifices of the Movement’s leadership, without support from government agencies or non-governmental organisations.
“What we are doing today is purely the product of our collective resolve as a Movement. We are determined, and there is no going back. We trust God completely for provision, knowing that our membership is growing by the hour, and He continues to supply all our needs,” he added.
Looking ahead, Raji expressed optimism about the future, declaring that the New Year would usher in renewed strength and purpose for the Movement.
“Divine Mandate Movement is ever-ready and fully prepared to lift journalists to greater heights and to redefine journalism as a noble, dignified, and globally respected profession”.
He concluded by offering prayers and goodwill messages to journalists and their families.
“We wish all journalists in Oyo State, across Nigeria, and around the world a productive, fruitful, rewarding, and prosperous 2026,” Raji prayed.
The gesture drew overwhelming appreciation from members, many of whom described it as timely, reassuring, and deeply motivating.
Several members took turns to commend the leadership for its consistency, vision, and resilience.
“Many thanks to our indefatigable leaders for putting smiles on our faces. This gesture will not be forgotten and will further strengthen our support for the Divine Mandate Movement. Together, we shall succeed. God bless us all,” a member remarked.
Another member described the initiative as proof that the Movement remains focused despite recent experiences. “This is a clear testimony that the team has truly come to stay and is committed to building a better future for journalists in Oyo State. Kudos to the leadership”.
Another member added, “Thank you for your encouragement and support. I received my package yesterday with heartfelt appreciation. May God continue to bless us all”.
In unison, members reaffirmed their loyalty and commitment to the Divine Mandate Movement, pledging to remain steadfast, united, and dedicated to its cause as it continues to champion the welfare, dignity, and professional advancement of journalists.
