Former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially resigned from the party, citing internal crises and betrayal by party leaders.
Jandor announced his resignation at a press briefing held at Liberty Place, Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, where he was accompanied by a large group of supporters.
Speaking on his decision, he attributed his departure to widespread indiscipline and anti-party activities that have become prevalent within the PDP. He particularly accused some party leaders, including former Deputy National Chairman Chief Olabode George, of actively working against the party during the 2023 elections.
Jandor expressed disappointment over what he described as internal sabotage, which he believes significantly weakened the PDP’s chances in Lagos State.
“We will consult widely with everybody and then take the decision to collapse our structure into another platform. What is majority on the ground now is that we have left the Peoples Democratic Party,” he stated.
His exit marks another setback for the PDP in Lagos, as he was one of the party’s prominent figures in the last election. Political analysts suggest that his next move could influence the political landscape ahead of future elections in the state.
