The Federal Government has officially commenced payment of the new ₦77,000 monthly allowance to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

This follows the earlier commitment by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, who assured that the revised allowance would take effect from March 2025.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, also confirmed that any outstanding payments related to the new allowance would be settled.

Reports indicate that several corps members began receiving payment notifications on Wednesday.

Oluwatosin, a corps member serving in Delta State, shared his excitement about the increase in monthly allowance.

The Federal Government had initially announced the new allowance in September 2024 as part of the implementation of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.

However, delays in its execution led to concerns among corps members despite repeated assurances from authorities.

With the payment now underway, the long-awaited increment brings financial relief to corps members nationwide.
