A four-story building collapsed on Lagos Island on Thursday, trapping an unknown number of people.

The collapse happened at Iga Iduganran, near the Oba of Lagos’ palace.Gbenga Omotosho, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, confirmed the news on his X account.

He said that eight people have been rescued so far.

Emergency officials are still working to rescue two more people from the rubble.

The building had been marked for evacuation by the Lagos State Building Control Agency.This incident happened less than a week after an 11-year-old girl and three other people died when a mosque hit by an excavator collapsed in the Papa Ajao area of Lagos State.
