Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) less than 24 hours before the party’s governorship primary, deepening the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party.
Adeleke’s resignation letter, dated 4 November and addressed to the PDP chairman of Sagba Ward 2 in Ede, surfaced on Monday evening<span;> said his decision to quit the PDP takes immediate effect.
“Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the party with immediate effect,” he declared.
He expressed appreciation to the PDP for the platform it provided throughout his political journey, including his election to the Senate and later as Governor of Osun State.
“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Representing Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State,” he said.
He rounded off the statement with warm regards, without indicating his next political move.
