Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has cautioned security agencies against involving themselves in matters outside their primary responsibilities.
During the 15th weekly meeting of the Kano State Executive Council at the Government House, he emphasized the importance of security personnel focusing on their core duty of protecting citizens’ lives and property.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, issued a statement addressing the recent increase in thuggery within Kano metropolis. Governor Yusuf condemned this rise in violence and urged security agencies to swiftly address the issue.
“Governor Abba Kabir expressed disapproval of the recent increase in thuggery and clashes involving Yan daba.
He affirmed that the government will not remain passive while lawbreakers threaten the peace and safety of the state’s law-abiding citizens,” the statement read.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the state’s ongoing collaboration with security agencies to maintain safety and security.
He also warned judges against the unwarranted release of thugs, citing the threat they pose to public welfare and stressing the need for prompt and fair justice.
The governor reiterated the directive for security agencies to adhere strictly to their designated duties and avoid overstepping their bounds.
He called on the citizens to continue their lawful activities, assuring them of the government’s dedication to their protection and seeking their continued support and cooperation.
