The Kogi State Government has announced a restriction on vehicular movement on Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., to ensure a smooth and secure local government election.
Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information, made this known in a statement issued in Lokoja on Friday. He said the decision was aimed at guaranteeing the safety of voters and residents across the 21 Local Government Areas during the polls.
Fanwo stated, “Security agencies have been directed to enforce the order, and offenders will face the appropriate consequences in the interest of public safety.”
He encouraged citizens to turn out in large numbers to elect their local representatives, assuring them that adequate security measures are in place to protect voters as they exercise their rights.
Fanwo also expressed confidence in the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) to conduct a free, fair, and credible election. “We urge citizens to be peaceful and express their choices through the ballot, reinforcing democracy as the will of the people,” he added.
The commissioner emphasized the state government’s commitment to upholding law and order for the continued development of Kogi State.
