A 21-year-old female student of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Mojisola Awesu, who was hired by a friend to pose as a girlfriend for a private university student at a party for N15,000, has been found dead at a refuse dump in the Aleniboro area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Kwara Police Public Relations Officer, revealed this in a statement released on Tuesday.
The report indicates that on August 12, 2024, a local resident reported discovering a body at a refuse dump, leading police to recover and identify the deceased as Awesu before transferring her body to the morgue.
On August 13, a missing person report was filed by Miss Blessing, Awesu’s roommate, who noted that Mojisola had left home to attend a party organized by students from two private universities in the state.
Ejire-Adeyemi detailed that Awesu had received a call on August 9 from Miss Timileyin, who informed her about the event organized by Summit University and Al-Hikmah University students in Ilorin.
Timileyin introduced Awesu to Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a Summit University student, who allegedly hired her to act as his girlfriend at the party for N15,000. Upon arrival, Awesu reported feeling uneasy about the hotel where she was staying, and mentioned that there was no party at the location.
After communicating her discomfort to her roommate, Awesu’s phone went unreachable, and all subsequent attempts to contact her failed. Following an investigation, several suspects have been apprehended and are currently under investigation.
“The Kwara State Police Command has arrested suspects related to this case. An ongoing investigation has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a more detailed examination,” Ejire-Adeyemi stated.
