A 36-year-old woman identified only as Abiola has died while undergoing a buttocks enlargement procedure at a clinic in the Lekki-Phase 1 area of Lagos State.
The incident, which occurred around 3 pm on Monday, was reported on Wednesday. The procedure, known as a Brazilian Butt Lift, involves removing fat from other parts of the body and injecting it into the buttocks to create a rounder and fuller shape.
A police source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the case, informed our correspondent that Abiola had left her home in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, Ibeju Lekki, instructing her driver to take her to the clinic for the surgery.
Upon arrival, the clinic owner reportedly instructed a nurse to administer an injection to Abiola.
However, shortly after receiving the injection, she lost consciousness and began gasping for breath.
She was immediately rushed to a hospital in Lekki Phase 1, where she was later pronounced dead.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that a suspect linked to the crime was arrested on Tuesday. Hundeyin said, “The private driver of the deceased reported the incident to the Maroko division. Our officers visited the scene, and the body was sent to a public morgue for an autopsy.
The nurse who injected the deceased has been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing.”
