The Lagos State Police Command has detained a man for allegedly killing his neighbour and her son following a dispute over environmental sanitation in the Lekki area of the state.

The Command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, stating that the tragic event occurred on Saturday around 10:50 p.m. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact method used in the killings.

According to Hundeyin, on September 15, around 10:50 p.m., the police received a report from the Elemoro division that the suspect had allegedly killed his neighbour, identified as Gloria, and her son, after an argument about cleaning the environment.

The suspect reportedly attempted to dispose of the bodies by placing them in a large sack, but was caught after other neighbours alerted the police.

“Detectives from the division immediately responded to the scene, arrested the suspect, and recovered the bodies,” Hundeyin said.

The bodies have been deposited at the Epe General Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation, and police detectives are currently investigating the incident.
