The 6th edition of the Olusegun Obasanjo National Squash Championship concluded in grand style, with the Kwara State squash team securing 2 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals, further solidifying Kwara’s dominance in the country’s squash tournaments.
The Kwara squash team, a consistent powerhouse in national tournaments, delivered a stellar performance at the recently concluded championship.
This success has garnered praise for both the team and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who has made significant investments in sports development.
In his closing speech at the tournament, former President Olusegun Obasanjo attributed the Kwara squash team’s remarkable achievements to the dedicated investment in sports, particularly squash, by Governor Abdulrazaq.
He urged other governors across the country to follow Governor Abdulrazaq’s example, emphasizing that such investments are crucial for the development of sports in Nigeria.
It is noteworthy that the Abdulrazaq-led administration recently completed 10 state-of-the-art squash courts at the Ilorin Stadium Complex.
Experts have lauded these courts as being among the best globally, reflecting the governor’s commitment to sports infrastructure.
Sports analysts have also credited the Kwara squash team’s historic performance at the 6th OONSC to the availability of these world-class facilities, which allowed the team to prepare thoroughly for the tournament.
