Following a devastating rainstorm that ravaged homes and displaced hundreds of residents in Ita-Ogbolu, Akure North, the Ondo State government has donated relief items to those affected to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
During a donation event in Ita-Ogbolu on Thursday, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emphasized his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the state’s residents. Representing the governor, Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, who also serves as the chairman of the Ondo State Emergency Management Agency (ODSEMA), reiterated this promise.
Adelami recalled the governor’s previous visit to the town, during which he inspected the damaged properties and assured the community of support. “Mr. Governor, during his last visit, promised that the state government would provide some relief materials to the victims to cushion the effect of the disaster. I am glad to be here today to deliver on that promise,” he stated.
Expressing gratitude for the governor’s prompt action, Adelami added, “I want to sincerely thank the Governor for being a listening leader, and for his prompt approval and timely release of funds for the procurement of these items.”
The deputy governor highlighted that the relief materials would be distributed to all those affected, regardless of political affiliations. Ojo Idowu, the Administrative Secretary in the office of the deputy governor, detailed the items being distributed to 340 households, which include bags of cement, mattresses, iron sheets, and nails.
The Ogbolu of Ita-Ogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborede, expressed his gratitude to the governor for his responsiveness and promised that the community would reciprocate the kind gesture at the appropriate time. Similarly, Steve Ojo, Chairman of the Ita-Ogbolu Development Council, praised the governor’s swift response, saying, “Today, Governor Aiyedatiwa has put smiles on our faces, and we will forever be grateful to him.”
