The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday, stated that his administration aims to create about one million direct and indirect jobs through the revitalized free trade zone initiative of the state government.

Adeleke made this announcement while declaring open a four-day Osun State Industrial Investment Summit held at the main campus of Osun State University, Osogbo.

The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr. Kola Adewusi, also mentioned that his administration is working towards making Osun one of the top 10 earners of Internally Generated Revenue in the country.

He called on investors, industrialists, and tourists, particularly those in the diaspora, to collaborate with the government to expedite the industrialization process in the state.

He said, “We want to accelerate the pace of industrialization because we are on a mission and that is why we have embarked on several initiatives across different sectors of the Osun economy.

“The revitalization of the Free Trade Zone is planned to provide over 1,000,000 direct and indirect jobs for the people.

“My administration’s mission is to make Osun the preferred destination for investment, business, and tourism in the South West.”

The governor urged participants to leverage the summit to shape the state’s development agenda and forge long-lasting alliances for mutual prosperity.

Speaking earlier, the Osun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Bunmi Jenyo, said the summit provided a platform for opportunities and strategic partnerships within the Osun industrial ecosystem to facilitate investments.

He added that the Adeleke administration has been deliberate in stimulating the state’s economy, building human capacity, creating wealth, and generating employment.
