The Oyo State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Government, has officially commissioned the South West Regional Training Centre and Liaison Office of the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI) in Ibadan.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to boosting agricultural productivity through strategic partnerships.
He noted that the establishment of the ARMTI centre aligns with the state’s ongoing efforts to achieve food security.
Barrister Olaleye highlighted that the administration of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has prioritized agricultural development by investing in capacity-building initiatives.
According to him, the Ministry of Agriculture has trained over 3,000 farmers in modern farming techniques, significantly improving productivity and sustainability within the sector.
He further reiterated the government’s unwavering support for farmers and its dedication to elevating the agricultural sector to greater heights.
The commissioner expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and other stakeholders for selecting Oyo State as the regional headquarters of the ARMTI South West program.
He described the newly commissioned centre as a vital hub for agricultural training and support services across the region.
Also speaking at the event, the Executive Director/CEO of ARMTI, Dr. Olufemi Oladunni, commended Governor Makinde for his swift approval and support of the regional office.
He described the development as a clear reflection of the government’s commitment to ensuring food security within Oyo State and across Nigeria.
Dr. Oladunni emphasized that ARMTI, a federal agency under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, is tasked with training farmers nationwide in modern agricultural practices aimed at empowerment and productivity enhancement.
