In a bid to further promote the ”end malaria campaign”, Wife of the Oyo state Governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde has been named and decorated as the NET ambassador.


She was decorated at the official flag off ceremony of the 2025 insecticide treated net mass campaign held at an event centre in Ibadan.

In her remarks, Mrs. Makinde emphasized the significance of the initiative, highlighting the devastating impact of malaria on children and the need for collective action to combat the disease.

As the newly decorated ambassador for the campaign, she pledged to continue advocating for the use of insecticide-treated nets and other malaria prevention strategies stressing further that the nets will provide protection to thousands of families, particularly children and pregnant women, who are most vulnerable to the disease.

The Oyo state Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi who also addressed the gathering underscored the threat posed by malaria to child mortality and morbidity in the State.

She noted that malaria is a leading cause of death among children under five years adding that the distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets is a crucial step towards reducing the burden of malaria in Oyo State.
