The Oyo State Government has reiterated its commitment to equipping civil and public servants with advanced skills to enhance service delivery and productivity.
Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, made this known during a Digital Skills Training Programme organized by the Oyo State Management Information Centre (MIC) on Advanced Digital Skills and State-wide Productivity Tools. The event took place at the Local Government House Training Hall, Secretariat, Ibadan.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of General Administration in the Governor’s Office, Dr. Adekunle Oyedele, emphasized the administration’s dedication to training and retraining civil servants.
She stated that the initiative aims to improve work efficiency and foster a culture of continuous professional development among government employees.
Professor Adeyemo urged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the training to deliver more efficient services to the state. She noted that enhancing digital proficiency is essential in today’s interconnected world.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Mr. Bayo Akande Jr., lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for consistently approving programs to upskill the state’s workforce. He described the training as a strategic effort to align the public sector with global digital trends.
Engineer (Mrs.) Abisola Adabanija, the Director of ICT, highlighted the importance of the training in advancing the state’s digital transformation agenda.
“This training, tagged “Digital Skills Nigeria,” in collaboration with Tech4Dev, is a crucial step toward achieving Business Process Automation and digitizing public sector operations,” Adabanija remarked.
She encouraged civil servants to embrace the opportunity, adding, “This is a ‘train the trainer’ session, so participants are expected to share the knowledge gained with colleagues across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).”
The training underscores the Oyo State Government’s commitment to creating a digitally competent workforce, enhancing operational efficiency, and contributing to the state’s economic growth.
