Dr. Nureni Adeniran, Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), has assured the public that the recruitment of teachers into public basic schools will be conducted based on merit, ensuring equity and fairness.
In an interview on a popular radio station in Ibadan on Sunday, Adeniran emphasized that the Oyo State government is committed to a transparent recruitment process.
The state opened its recruitment portal for primary school teachers on June 25, 2024, at (http://subeb.jobportal.oyostate.gov.ng).
Adeniran explained that all applicants will go through a comprehensive selection process, including a computer-based test.
Speaking in his native language, he said, “The applicants will go through all the stages in the recruitment exercise, from the application stage through all the screening stages.
Those who pass the application stage will receive messages inviting them to the next stage of the exercise, which is the Computer-Based Test.”
He assured that the recruitment would be entirely merit-based, following specific instructions from the Governor.
“The Board is steadfast and committed to this state assignment, and we are forever grateful to the Executive Governor for his guidance,” Adeniran added.
Upon completion of the recruitment exercise, the state will benefit from additional manpower in the teaching sector, aiding in the education and development of future generations.
Adeniran also encouraged applicants to regularly check the recruitment portal for updates on their status and the schedule for the computer-based tests.
Additionally, Adeniran addressed the issue of thuggery in some basic schools, expressing confidence that this challenge would soon be overcome with collective effort from both the government and parents.
