In a bid to restore unity, discipline, and focus ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at its ongoing 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, has announced the expulsion of former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose; and nine other prominent members over alleged anti-party activities and violations of key provisions of the party’s constitution.
The decision was ratified during the Elective National Convention holding in Ibadan.
The motion classified as the Fifth Motionwas moved by elder statesman, Chief Bode George, and received overwhelming support from delegates across the country.
According to Chief George, the expelled individuals were accused of engaging in activities that undermined the PDP’s interests, including openly supporting and campaigning for opposition parties in recent elections.
He added that, party leaders described these actions as serious breaches that could no longer be overlooked. “The decision became necessary to protect the integrity of the party,” he stated.
The other members expelled from the party are: Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, Hon. Umar Bature, Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, Mohammed Abdulrahman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Abraham Amah, George Turner and Chief Dan Orbih.
The party says the move is part of broader efforts to reposition the PDP and strengthen internal cohesion as it prepares for future political engagements.
Political analysts believe the sweeping expulsions reflect a deliberate power recalibration within the PDP as the party braces for major national battles ahead of 2027.
The move is seen as both a warning to dissenters and a strategic step toward repositioning the PDP as a more unified and formidable opposition force.
