Operatives of the Lagos State Police have apprehended a 37-year-old man, Azeez Olayiwola, for allegedly possessing counterfeit dollars in Lagos State.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State police spokesman, Olayiwola, who claimed to be a Baba Ijebu lotto agent, was arrested during a raid in the Whitesand area of Ijora Badia.
Hundeyin stated, “At about 11:30 p.m., during a coordinated raid of criminal hideouts, Olayiwola was found in possession of a black bag containing currency suspected to be fake dollars at his lotto game stand.”
The suspect denied ownership of the bag, suggesting it may have been left there by a former employee who is now at large.
The suspect and the suspected fake dollars were promptly taken to the police station, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
