Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over their arch-rivals, Rangers International, in the NPFL Matchday 36 clash at a packed Lekan Salami Stadium Complex on Thursday.
The match’s decisive moment came in the 13th minute when striker Christian Pyagbara headed in a well-taken corner kick from Ayobami Junior.
This marked Pyagbara’s 8th goal of the season, propelling the Oluyole Warriors to triumph over the league leaders, the Flying Antelopes.
Despite several missed opportunities to extend their lead both before and after Pyagbara’s goal, 3SC managed to hold onto their narrow advantage until the final whistle.
With this victory, the Ibadan-based team remains fourth in the league standings with 59 points from 36 matches.
They aim to climb higher when they face Bayelsa United on Sunday in a crucial Matchday 37 fixture at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
