The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of Adeleye Ayomide, suspected to be responsible for the death of Idowu Christiana, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

Christiana was reportedly abducted along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos State on August 19, 2024. According to a family source, kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N3 million but later accepted N350,000 without releasing her.

Lt-Col. Olabisi Ayeni, spokesperson for the 81 Division, confirmed Ayomide’s arrest by the 174 Battalion, stating that he would be handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation.

The Student Union Government of FUNAAB also confirmed Christiana’s death.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with the hashtag #JusticeForChristiana trending and users demanding justice.

Ayomide, a student of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), is alleged to have confessed to the crime.
