President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been appointed as the new Director-General of the NIA, while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi is the new Director-General of the DSS.
Ambassador Mohammed brings a wealth of experience from his distinguished career in the foreign service, having joined the NIA in 1995.
He has held various key roles, including serving as the head of the Nigerian mission to Libya. A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, he has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House, Abuja.
Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the newly appointed Director-General of the DSS, has risen through the ranks, most recently holding the position of Assistant Director-General of the Service. His career includes serving as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
These appointments follow the resignation of the previous NIA and DSS chiefs. President Tinubu has tasked the new security leaders with the responsibility of repositioning their respective agencies to achieve better results.
He urged them to leverage their extensive experience to address the nation’s security challenges through enhanced collaboration with sister agencies and in close coordination with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The President also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General of the NIA and DSS for their dedicated service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
