President Bola Tinubu has extended an appointment to Professor Attahiru Jega, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the Presidential Committee on Implementation of Livestock Reforms at the presidential villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
Jega has been appointed as co-Chairman of the Committee, tasked with addressing challenges hindering agricultural productivity and creating new opportunities across the livestock-farming value chain for farmers, herders, processors, and distributors.
President Tinubu emphasized the non-partisan nature of the appointment, stressing its focus on national development.
He highlighted the significance of the committee’s work in reforming traditional livestock farming methods and fostering collaboration with stakeholders, including state governments.
“This presents a unique opportunity to establish the Ministry of Livestock Development, providing our veterinary doctors access to necessary research and cross-breeding capabilities, thereby curbing senseless violence,” President Tinubu affirmed.
