Shooting Stars Sports Club delivered a commanding performance to halt the impressive unbeaten streak of Rangers International FC with a 3–1 victory in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 32 clash at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday.

Rangers came into the encounter eyeing a ninth consecutive unbeaten game, but the Oluyole Warriors had other plans in front of their home supporters.

The first half ended in a tense stalemate, with both sides failing to break the deadlock despite several attempts.

However, the game burst into life shortly after the restart as Sodiq Ibrahim fired Shooting Stars ahead just three minutes into the second half. Rangers responded in the 70th minute through C. Nwobodo, who restored hope for the visitors with a well-taken equaliser.

The parity was short-lived as Shooting Stars regained control eight minutes later. Desmond rose to the occasion, converting a well-worked corner kick in the 78th minute to put the hosts back in front.

With Rangers pushing for another comeback, Adams Mustapha sealed the victory in emphatic fashion, netting in the 88th minute to make it 3–1 and put the result beyond doubt.

The win not only strengthens Shooting Stars’ position in the league but also brings an abrupt end to Rangers’ impressive unbeaten run.
