The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media claiming that pupils and teachers abducted from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area have regained their freedom.
In a statement, the Command clarified that there is no truth to the reports, stressing that no such development has been recorded as of the time of the announcement.
The police urged members of the public to disregard the viral messages, describing them as unverified and capable of spreading misinformation.
The Command further assured residents that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe rescue of the victims and encouraged the public to rely only on official sources for updates on the incident.
