Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State and factional National Deputy Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, is reportedly on the verge of leaving Governor Seyi Makinde’s political camp amid growing speculation of a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sources familiar with the development said Arapaja has intensified consultations in recent weeks over his political future, with reports indicating that he recently met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The reported meeting has further fueled speculation that the PDP stalwart may be preparing to join the ruling APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Party insiders also disclosed that Arapaja is expected to step away from Governor Seyi Makinde’s political camp next week before formally declaring his next political destination.
