Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has once again lambasted his successor, Governor Uba Sani, for allegedly concocting financial figures to smear his administration.
El-Rufai’s former commissioners held a press conference in Abuja, where they vehemently dismissed the accusations leveled against them.
The commissioners, who served between 2015 and 2023, criticized a purported financial report from the Kaduna State House of Assembly, released on June 5, 2024. They described the report’s claims of misappropriating N423,115,028,072.88 as baseless and lacking any factual basis.
According to the former officials, the report presented wildly inconsistent figures and failed to substantiate its allegations of financial wrongdoing.
They accused Governor Sani and his team of orchestrating a malicious campaign to discredit El-Rufai’s tenure without concrete evidence.
Furthermore, the commissioners criticized the report for overlooking issues under Governor Sani’s administration, such as the handling of the CBN-sponsored Anchor Borrowers Programme.
They raised concerns about conflicts of interest among the committee members who authored the report, including ties to individuals investigated by Kaduna State authorities.
The former commissioners condemned what they termed a biased and unfair assessment by the Kaduna State House of Assembly, demanding transparency and fairness in handling such allegations.
In their concluding remarks, they denounced the report as a politically motivated smear campaign and vowed to challenge its credibility and findings.
