Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Monday, launched a residents’ registration exercise.
This initiative aims to generate an accurate database to guide the government’s developmental plans and enhance the security of lives and properties.
The governor highlighted that this database would assist in resource allocation, including access to social protection services like health insurance and government support across different demographics.
On Monday, Governor AbdulRazaq himself registered, with the process conducted by Tajudeen Jimoh, the Acting General Manager of the Kwara State Residents’ Registration Agency (KWASSRA).
In December 2021, AbdulRazaq had launched KWASSRA to gather accurate information about every resident in the state for better planning and resource allocation.
“This registration exercise will capture relevant data of every resident of Kwara,” the governor said at the launch.
He added, “The essence is to have a reliable data bank of everyone and use it for planning, resource allocation, and security preparedness.
With a reliable database, planning becomes easier, and everyone in our state is easily identified for planning, social protection programmes, and other government services.”
The governor emphasized the importance of accurate data for effective planning and addressing developmental challenges. He encouraged all residents to participate in the registration exercise at designated centers and times.
The exercise will include biometrics to generate a unique identity for each resident.
