The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, has distributed 10 electricity transformers to communities across the district as part of efforts to address power supply challenges and boost grassroots economic activities.

Oseni, who represents Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said the intervention was aimed at improving electricity supply and enhancing the living conditions of residents in the beneficiary communities.

According to a statement made available to journalists, the distribution marks the second phase of the lawmaker’s electricity support initiative for communities across Oyo South.

The latest beneficiaries include Jankata and Ajose communities in Ido Local Government Area; Irepodun/Iwajowa communities around the University of Ibadan in Ibadan North; and Iyana Court and Odinjo areas in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area.

Speaking on the initiative, Oseni, who chairs the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), said the intervention followed needs assessments and repeated requests from communities across the senatorial district.

He noted that residents had continued to seek assistance in critical areas, including electricity, water supply, roads, education, healthcare and economic empowerment.

“Many communities across Oyo South Senatorial District have requested support in different areas, including electricity, water, roads, education and empowerment. We recognise these needs and will continue to respond as resources and opportunities permit,” he said.

The federal lawmaker explained that effective representation goes beyond legislative duties and sponsoring bills to include direct engagement with constituents and practical interventions to address their developmental needs.

He added that improved electricity supply would enhance living conditions, support small businesses and artisans, and stimulate economic activities in the benefiting communities.

The latest distribution comes weeks after Oseni provided five transformers to communities in Ibadan South-West, Ibadan North, Ibadan North-West and Ido local government areas.

The earlier beneficiaries included Oke-Ayo/Odo-Ona and Adeoyo communities behind the Federal Industrial Court along Ring Road in Ibadan South-West; the Baptist community behind the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) in Ido; the Hausa community in Sabo, Ibadan North; and Opo community in Ibadan North-West.

According to the statement, the two phases were designed to address prolonged electricity challenges that had affected households, small-scale businesses and other socioeconomic activities in the affected communities.

Oseni assured residents that requests from communities yet to benefit from the initiative would receive attention as resources and opportunities become available.

He reiterated that community development remained a key component of his legislative agenda, alongside his responsibilities at the National Assembly, and pledged to continue pursuing interventions aimed at extending the benefits of democratic governance to communities across Oyo South.

Residents of the beneficiary communities, according to the statement, have commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.
