Ogun State has long enjoyed a strong and productive relationship with the nation’s security apparatus, and we are consistently recognised as one of the most secure and peaceful states in Nigeria.

In our continued efforts to strengthen this relationship with the armed forces, we are pleased to announce that Ogun State has allocated 100 hectares of land to the Nigerian Navy for the construction of a forward operating base in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area. This base will include a naval dockyard and a naval base.

The establishment of this base and dockyard will enhance security for the increasing investments in the area, such as the proposed Ok LNG project led by NNPC Limited and the proposed Olokola Deep Sea Port.

Additionally, it will safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty at Tongeji Island, located in Ipokia Local Government Area, Ogun State, and support NNPC Limited’s oil exploration activities, given our state’s frontier status as recognised by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The Chief of Naval Staff expressed gratitude to us and the Ogun State Government, assuring that construction will commence immediately, as it has been included in the Nigerian Navy’s 2024 budget.
