Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has praised his Osun State counterpart, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for his dedication to infrastructure development and pro-people policies.

During the commissioning of completed projects in Osun State on Wednesday, Makinde expressed his confidence that the people of both Osun and Oyo states are prepared to stand firm against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.

Makinde criticized recent comments by APC National Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Ganduje, about the party’s plans to “capture” Osun and Oyo states, calling them a misplaced optimism.

He pointed out that the people of Osun have already experienced the positive effects of Governor Adeleke’s administration and will continue to support him in the upcoming election.

Makinde also commended Governor Adeleke for completing significant projects initiated by previous administrations, a principle he similarly upholds in Oyo State.

One of the key projects Makinde highlighted was the completion of a major road project that had been started by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola. Makinde stressed the importance of prioritizing the welfare of the people over partisan politics.

“This road was started by former Governor Aregbesola, but Governor Adeleke completed it. This shows that you are cementing your place as a progressive leader. Such continuity is what our people deserve,” Makinde said.

Further praising Adeleke’s governance approach, Makinde noted that it represents a break from the norm, with a focus on delivering tangible benefits to the people, regardless of political party affiliations.

Makinde also recognized the economic potential of Adeleke’s projects, such as the road and the 250-kilometre light-up initiative. He urged Osun residents to hold on to properties in areas benefiting from these developments, predicting an increase in property values as a result of the enhanced infrastructure.

“Where roads go, development follows,” Makinde remarked. “This project is a significant milestone in boosting the economic growth of Osun State.”

Reiterating the importance of visionary leadership, Makinde emphasized that both he and Adeleke are united in their commitment to regional progress, positioning themselves as the “true progressives” of the South-West.

Makinde encouraged Osun voters to re-elect Adeleke, praising his ability to deliver results and describing him as a symbol of light and progress. He urged the people to resist any attempt by the APC to undo the accomplishments achieved under Adeleke’s leadership.

“Stick with Imole (light), it is working and will continue to work,” Makinde said. “Don’t allow the return of darkness. The people of Osun and Oyo are waiting to teach the APC a lesson.”

In his speech, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, thanked Governor Makinde for his support and presence, emphasizing the strong cultural and historical ties between Oyo and Osun states.

He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring inclusive governance that prioritizes the needs of the people.
