The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Victor Fasuba, a suspected internet fraudster, on Monday, June 10, 2023.
He faced charges of fraudulent impersonation before Justice Kehinde Ogundare at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The charge against Fasuba reads:
“That you, FASUBA VICTOR OLUWATOSI, sometime in November 2023, in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, fraudulently impersonated one ‘Arrow Grant’ by holding yourself out as such on Facebook App, with intent to gain advantage for yourself and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 22(2)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act, 2015.”
Fasuba pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
Following his guilty plea, the prosecution counsel, Z.B. Atiku, requested a review of the facts before the court. However, Justice Ogundare adjourned the case to June 25, 2024, for the review of facts.
The defendant was ordered to remain on the administrative bail previously granted by the EFCC.
