Speaking on Monday during an inspection of road projects and the comprehensive renovation of nine general hospitals in the state, Governor Oyebanji explained that his government is working closely with members of the Ekiti Caucus in the National Assembly to facilitate the large-scale recruitment of doctors and health workers for state hospitals.
Under this arrangement, he stated that the National Assembly members would cover the salaries and allowances of the newly recruited doctors and health workers for one year.
He further disclosed that the government is currently renovating one primary healthcare centre in each of the state’s 177 wards to further strengthen the health sector.
The Governor assured that the recruitment process would commence soon, adding that all general hospitals in the state would be fully staffed with medical professionals before the end of the year.
He emphasised that this initiative would help address the shortage of medical personnel, particularly doctors and nurses while ensuring the effective utilisation of modern equipment and facilities being provided by the government.
Governor Oyebanji urged residents to take advantage of the newly renovated hospitals, stressing that patronage would justify the government’s significant investment in the health sector.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering quality and accessible healthcare services, the Governor expressed satisfaction that Ekiti residents are now reaping the dividends of democracy as a reward for their trust in his leadership.
He highlighted the ongoing transformation of the healthcare sector as part of his administration’s broader efforts to improve the quality of life for the people.
The renovation and equipping of nine general hospitals with modern medical equipment, he noted, are aimed at enhancing the delivery of healthcare services across the state.
Governor Oyebanji assured that his government would not only renovate the nine secondary health facilities but also equip them with state-of-the-art medical infrastructure to meet global standards.
He described the transformation of health facilities as one of the many benefits of continuity in governance, recalling that his predecessor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, had renovated 11 general hospitals before leaving office in 2022.
