The importance of women achieving self-reliance to contribute to national development has been emphasized once again.
Oyo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Balogun, highlighted this during a courtesy visit by the executive members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Oyo State chapter, at her office in the Secretariat, Ibadan.
Acknowledging the economic challenges currently affecting the nation, Mrs. Balogun noted that women and children are disproportionately impacted.
She stated that her ministry has taken significant steps to ensure that women in Oyo State gain meaningful employment.
Additionally, she explained that various programs are being organized to support the elderly and physically challenged members of society, aiming to alleviate their suffering.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of Oyo NAWOJ, Mrs. Omolola Alamu, stated that their visit was intended to foster familiarity and create a synergy with the Ministry.
This collaboration is aimed at mediating in the affairs of women, children, the elderly, and vulnerable groups in society.
Mrs. Alamu emphasized the need for the Association and the Ministry to partner in efforts to advocate for the inclusion of the underprivileged in the community.
