The Leadership Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has reaffirmed its full support for Governor Ademola Adeleke and resolved that he should remain in the PDP.
The party also declared its endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
This decision followed wide consultations, debates, surveys, and opinion sampling from traditional rulers, community leaders, civil servants, retirees, religious leaders, market men and women, and the general public across Osun State.
In a statement released after the review, the caucus noted that while some APC members have shown hostility towards Governor Adeleke, PDP members in Osun only considered following him to another party out of loyalty—not choice. The party clarified that the idea of defection to the APC did not originate from the governor.
“Osun PDP members remain strongly behind Governor Adeleke and prefer he continues to lead under the PDP platform,” the statement read. “We also recognize President Tinubu as a son of Osun State and, therefore, endorse him for the 2027 election.”
The caucus resolved to: Endorse President Tinubu for re-election in 2027;
Reaffirm Adeleke as the PDP candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election;
Urge Governor Adeleke and all members to remain in PDP;
Mandate party structures to spread the resolution across the state;
Encourage the governor to stay focused on delivering his administration’s Five-Point Agenda.
The statement underlines the PDP’s continued popularity in Osun State and its readiness to stay united ahead of future elections.
