Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, says the opposition will no longer be relevant in the state by the 2027 General Elections.

Speaking at the APC campaign flag-off for the August 16 senatorial by-election in Uromi, he said the ruling party’s growing influence and development record would force opposition members to join the APC.

He welcomed several defectors from the PDP, including Alhaji Esiwele Musa, Abraham Osazuwa, Sunny Ejie, and Robert Okoneme. Okpebholo predicted that the APC would win all five local governments and 51 wards in the district.

He also urged voters to collect money from other parties but vote for APC, saying, “The money is our money.”

Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa and APC Chairman Jarrett Tenebe backed the governor’s claims.

Idahosa said voters should reward Okpebholo for attracting federal support, while Tenebe presented the party flag to candidate Joseph Ikpea. Ikpea promised to continue Okpebholo’s legacy in the Senate.
