The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara will officially resume duties on Wednesday, September 18, 2025.

According to Wike, the governor is expected to begin full collaboration with the newly elected chairmen and councillors across the 23 local government areas of the state.

The former Rivers governor made this known shortly after casting his vote at Ward 9, Unit 7, Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, during the local government council elections held on Saturday that the September resumption marks a new phase for the administration, especially at the grassroots level, where the newly sworn-in local government officials will begin to discharge their responsibilities.

He stressed that the synergy between the governor and the council leadership would help consolidate democratic governance and ensure that developmental projects and programmes reach the people at the community level.

The Minister also expressed optimism that the cordial working relationship would further stabilize the political atmosphere in Rivers State, assuring that the people would witness more inclusive governance as the governor resumes his official schedule.

Wike, a key political figure in the state, maintained that the Fubara administration must take advantage of the fresh mandate of the newly elected council leaders to strengthen service delivery and deepen trust in government.
