The Chairmanship candidate of the Divine Mandate Team in the forthcoming Oyo State Council election of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Raji Adebayo, has unveiled a five-point reform agenda aimed to build on Comrade Ademola Babalola’s (Dembab) achievements.
Raji announced the agenda during the official flag-off of his campaign at the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Oyo NUJ in Mokola, Ibadan.
He said the agenda was designed to rebuild trust within the union and strengthen the capacity of journalists to thrive in a rapidly changing media landscape.
“Our goal is to restore confidence in NUJ leadership, ensure transparency in all processes, and empower journalists with digital tools and training opportunities,” he said. “We want to build a union that truly works for every member.”
Also speaking during the campaign flag-off Comrade Kunle Bakare, Campaign Girector General of Divine Mandate Team said, Raji’s plan focuses on transparency, accountability, welfare, digital transformation, and continuous professional development, describing him as a tested and trusted leader with the integrity and experience needed to lead the union.
“Comrade Raji Adebayo has the vision and capacity to lead Oyo NUJ into a new era of openness and progress,” Bakare said. “His administration will prioritize journalists’ welfare, digital innovation, and ethical practice.”
Bakare recalled Raji’s tenure as the immediate past Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, noting his record of unity, fairness, and commitment to members’ welfare.
He urged journalists to verify claims during the campaign and resist misinformation, stressing that Adebayo’s character and service record are beyond reproach.
“Let’s stand for the truth and support proven leadership,” he said. “Raji Adebayo’s five-point agenda will restore dignity and professionalism to the Oyo NUJ.”
Divine Mandate Team is expected to continue its campaign across NUJ chapels ahead of the December 9th 2025 elections.
