The Federal Government has announced Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the fasting period.
He urged Muslims to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice cultivated during Ramadan.
Tunji-Ojo also encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and prosperity.
While wishing Muslims a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, he advised citizens to celebrate responsibly and show kindness to the less privileged.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
