The Lagos State Police Command has detained two officers involved in an unauthorized operation that resulted in the death of a civilian.
In a statement released on Saturday, Command spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that the officers, who are members of the State Taskforce, undertook an illegal operation on Wednesday accompanied by civilians.
According to Hundeyin, the unauthorized team was attacked by motorcycle riders during the operation, leading to the fatality of one civilian.
“While disciplinary actions have commenced against the detained officers, efforts are underway to locate and apprehend their civilian accomplices,” Hundeyin stated.
“Investigations are ongoing to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for this heinous act.”
