Nigerian rising football star, Usman Oyelade, has continued his impressive rise in the game after emerging as one of the biggest winners at the FVC International Football Academy awards night in the United Kingdom, where he claimed three major honours for his outstanding performances this season.
The 18-year-old striker emerged as one of the biggest stars of the night, clinching the Highest Goal Scorer Award, the Players’ Player Award, and the Coaches’ Player Award in recognition of his outstanding performances during the season.
Oyelade improved on his previous season’s tally of 19 goals by scoring 21 goals this season, further underlining his reputation as a prolific forward.
The Ibadan-born football talent has continued to impress with his steady development both on and off the pitch, combining academic pursuits with consistent football growth since moving to the UK.
His performances have also attracted national attention, earning him an invitation to the Nigeria U-21 squad ahead of the 2025 FIFA World Cup in Chile. Despite being just over 17 years old at the time, the coaching crew reportedly identified him as a promising long-term prospect for Nigerian football.
Earlier this year, Oyelade celebrated his 18th birthday during a one-week football assessment programme with Lorret De Mar in Spain before returning to his club side.
A product of the Ibadan-based Femben Sports Academy founded by Coach Femi Olatunji, Oyelade is widely regarded as a dynamic striker blessed with pace, strength, two-footed ability, and a sharp eye for goal.
Football stakeholders, including scouts, clubs, and agents, are already being encouraged to monitor the youngster’s progress as expectations continue to rise around his future in the game.
