Senegalese Football Federation has officially taken steps to overturn the decision stripping Senegal of their AFCON title, with a formal appeal now lodged at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
According to reports, the appeal registered on March 25, 2026 seeks to nullify the ruling by the Confederation of African Football and reinstate Senegal as rightful champions of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The federation has also requested a temporary suspension of the deadline to submit its full appeal brief, pending the release of CAF’s detailed grounds for the initial decision.
CAS is expected to appoint an arbitral panel to handle the case, after which a procedural timetable will be outlined.
CAS Director General, Matthieu Reeb, assured that the body is well-prepared to handle the dispute, emphasizing that proceedings will be conducted swiftly while ensuring fairness to all parties involved.
The outcome of the appeal is now eagerly awaited by teams and fans across African football.
