Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reassured the Muslim community in Ilesa that the ongoing road dualisation in the town will not affect the central mosque.
He reaffirmed his commitment not to demolish the mosque during a recent interactive session with the local residents.
In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor emphasized that the Ilesa Muslim community has no cause for concern.
“Governor Adeleke has received the plea of the Ijesa Muslim leaders and has directed that fresh assurance be given that the mosque is not billed for demolition in the ongoing road dualisation,” the statement read.
The governor confirmed that only the extended canopies of the mosque would be affected, not the main building. He also instructed officials from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to engage with the Muslim leaders regarding the matter.
Rasheed’s statement also commended stakeholders for their active support of the road dualisation project in Ilesa.
It highlighted Governor Adeleke’s dedication to implementing the multi-billion naira infrastructure upgrade with a focus on deep local content and active community engagement and collaboration.
