The Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt has upheld the fine imposed on popular Nigerian On-Air Personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, also known as Daddy Freeze, for committing adultery.
Originally ordered by a High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Daddy Freeze was directed to pay N5 million to Paul Odekina for his involvement with Benedicta Elechi, Odekina’s wife at the time.
In a judgment dated June 26, 2024, the three-man panel of Justice Abubakar Talba, Danlami Senchi, and Hannatu Balogun dismissed Daddy Freeze’s appeal, citing lack of merit.
The appellate court ruled that Daddy Freeze’s objections regarding the service of court documents should have been addressed through proper legal procedures at the trial court.
The court’s decision affirmed the High Court’s ruling that dissolved the marriage between Paul Odekina and Benedicta Elechi due to her adulterous relationship with Daddy Freeze.
Ola Faro and Ikobah Hilton represented Daddy Freeze during the appeal, while N.A. Naenwi and Wilcox Abereton (SAN) appeared for the respondents.
The judgment concluded without awarding costs to either party.
