The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has launched a three-day operation in Bauchi markets to remove counterfeit Milo chocolate drinks.
NAFDAC’s State Director, Dr. Paul Kamai, announced the initiative on Wednesday, stating that it began on Tuesday as part of a directive from the agency’s headquarters.
Dr. Kamai highlighted that this effort involves inspections of markets and superstores to eliminate fake Milo products. The exercise is scheduled to last three days.
Additionally, NAFDAC plans to meet with the leadership of the agro-chemical dealers’ association later this week to discuss the risks associated with certain chemicals.
In particular, the agency will address the dangers of Dictholoruvis and Paraquat, chemicals banned for food storage, as the harvest period approaches.
Dr. Kamai also urged bakers and packaged water producers to renew their licenses within the required two-year period to avoid potential penalties that could impact their business operations.
He emphasized the importance for small and medium enterprises to register their products with NAFDAC to ensure their integration into the Nigerian market.
