In fulfilment of one of his promises to take infrastructural development to every nook and cranny of Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has flagged off the construction of a 5.5km Iree-Ada road to the delight of residents of the area.
The flag-off ceremony, which took place at the popular Poly Junction in Iree, Boripe local government, brought together dignitaries, including royal fathers of the two ancient towns, politicians and other residents.
Speaking at the well-attended event, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, said it will continue to be his determination to continue to bring development around every part of the State.
The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr Basiru Salami, said the present administration is not ready to look back in the quest to move the State forward.
He noted that the bedrock of any meaningful economic development in any society is to have solid infrastructures, which is always an attraction to investors.
Governor Adeleke added that his administration will continue to put the welfare and well-being of residents on the front burner, as promised during his electioneering campaign.
In a goodwill message, the Aree of Iree, Oba Muritala Omotayo Oyelakin Oyekun III, who was full of praises for the Governor, said residents of both towns have suffered for many years because of the bad nature of the road.
Describing the road as a highly economic one, the royal father said the Iree/Ada road links the two towns to various farms from which farm produce is to be taken to major markets.
Earlier in an address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Bashir Bello sought the cooperation of residents of the two towns to enable the timely completion of the projects.
He assured the residents that every material and manpower needed for the project would be sourced locally from within both towns as directed by the Governor of the State.
