The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of the abducted Fouani brothers and two other individuals.
The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, shared this information via a text message to our correspondent on Tuesday.
The brothers—Abbas Fouani, Youssef Fouani, and Amtal Fouani—were kidnapped on June 14 around 6 p.m. in Lagos.
They were rescued last night in Orugbo Iddo by officers of the Marine Police. One of the brothers serves as the Managing Director of Fouani Nigeria Limited, which specializes in electronics and is the sole distributor of LG, Hisense, and Maxi products in Nigeria.
The three brothers were abducted while returning from their factory by boat. A source close to the incident, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the situation, disclosed that the kidnappers had contacted the victims’ families, demanding ransom.
Hundeyin confirmed that all the abductees have been rescued and reunited with their families. “Yes, five of them were rescued: three Lebanese, the boat captain, and his assistant.
They were rescued late last night in Orugbo Iddo. Our Marine Police, with the support of the Nigerian Navy, brought them to shore.
Thereafter, our tactical team in the area took them home to Banana Island in the early hours of today,” he said.
