The Osun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, has invested approximately N2 billion in micro projects across various communities in the state.
During a media engagement forum on Monday at Ben-Ber Foundation Hall in Osogbo, Mrs. Funmi Abokede, the General Manager of the Community and Social Development Agency in the State, revealed that the funds were allocated to provide essential social amenities for both urban and rural areas of Osun.
According to Abokede, the agency’s projects are inclusive and address the needs of all stakeholders, including persons with disabilities.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke has shown immense support. Since taking office, the state government has committed around N2 billion to complete over 267 micro projects throughout the state, including facilities designed to alleviate challenges faced by persons with disabilities,” she stated.
The General Manager highlighted that the Osun Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (Osun-CARES) program focuses on the provision of water, education, healthcare, and sanitation.
Abokede also noted the establishment of a center for people with disabilities, where they can showcase their skills in various trades.
“Osun State is the only state in Nigeria with a dedicated center for People with Disabilities, located in Edunabon. Other states have visited to learn from this initiative,” she added.
She urged communities benefiting from these micro-projects to adopt a culture of maintenance and sustainability to ensure the long-term benefits of the projects.
