Afrobeats superstar Davido has described Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election in Osun State as a major political victory, saying the governor prevailed despite facing overwhelming opposition from powerful political figures.
Reacting to the outcome of the election, Davido said Adeleke was up against a formidable political force involving governors, senators and members of the House of Representatives, yet still emerged victorious.
He credited the people of Osun for standing firmly behind the governor and defending their votes from the polling units through the various collation centres.
Davido said the result demonstrated that a government that performs for its people can earn their support regardless of the political machinery mobilised against it.
The singer also alleged that intimidation and vote-buying were deployed during the election but insisted that the people ultimately stood their ground.
He congratulated Adeleke on securing a second term and expressed confidence that the governor would use the next four years to further develop the state.
Davido’s comments add a high-profile voice to the political narrative surrounding Adeleke’s victory and the strength of the governor’s grassroots support in Osun.
