Sophia Momodu, the mother of Davido’s daughter, has asked a Lagos State High Court not to give the musician custody of their child. She argued that Davido is often absent and unable to properly care for their daughter.

Momodu filed a response to Davido’s lawsuit seeking custody, denying his claims of consistently supporting their child. She revealed that their daughter almost got expelled from school because Davido didn’t pay her tuition fees.

Momodu said that during their relationship, Davido used their daughter as an excuse for sex. She claimed he only visited their daughter for media attention and would stop supporting her when she refused his advances.

“He always wanted sex before he would visit our daughter or show her love. When I refused, he would stop paying for her school fees and maintenance,” she said.

Momodu recalled an incident in 2017 when Davido kicked her and their daughter out of his home in Atlanta, forcing them to stay with a friend.

She said she never stopped Davido from seeing their daughter and that he chose to be absent.

She explained that she paid for their apartment and that Davido did not buy a house for them. She also noted that Davido’s father had to pay the school fees when Davido failed to do so.

Momodu, represented by Chief Anthony Idigbe (SAN), criticized Davido’s legal team for mentioning their daughter’s name in a national newspaper.

The judge agreed that the child’s name should not be disclosed, emphasizing privacy rules for cases involving minors. The court referred the case for possible settlement through Alternative Dispute Resolution.
